Side Yard Sounds

Side Yard Sounds is a series at Compound Yellow that features a bevy of creative musical artists who traverse diverse forms: from the intriguing waters of experimentalism and the avant-garde to forward-reaching jazz and other modes that are expanding our vision of music both in and outside of Chicago. These performances take place in the side yard of our compound from April-October each year.

Paul Ashford

A native Chicagoan raised on jazz, blues, and soul music in the early 1960s-‘70s.

Paul Ashford started performing at age 10 played for Janet Jackson’s 1995 patrol released at the park west theater. Also Columbia pictures video David Josias mind blowing 1995 Buddy Guy cd release 2010 Studebaker, John and a hawks blues band 2008 2014 to recordings local bands gospel experience Reverend James, Cleveland, and Pastor Maceo Woods started performing gospel on drums at age 15 now age 60 still performing gospel time is forever as long as you enjoy what you’re doing
