Artist Keeley Haftner invites Terrain Biennial viewers to celebrate World Thrift Day at Compound Yellow in Oak Park. This site-specific performance and workshop will honour, celebrate, spoof and revere all that is ‘thrift’ to mark this global occasion. On October 21st viewers will witness a performance in response to Haftner's new piece, titled "Tesselescence (Umbrella Flag): World Thrift Day," followed by a workshop in which participants will learn how to make their own garments from scrap fabric. The flag will remain on view at Compound Yellow throughout the Terrain Biennial, until November 15th, 2023.

Compound Yellow presents a Patchwork Clothing Workshop by environmental artist Keeley Haftner in celebration of World Thrift Day
Are you interested in sustainable clothing practices? Waste prevention? Thrift? Patchwork quilting? Making your own patterns? The materiality of fabrics? Then this workshop is for you!
Participants will learn how to make clothing using scraps brought from home, or waste fabric donated from the Thrift Mansion. The workshop will commence with a performance by Keeley Haftner, followed by refreshments. All skill levels welcome
