DROPLETS AND INTERFERENCE - MATTHEW NICHOLAS

A glory is an atmospheric optical phenomenon caused by the interference patterns of overlapping light waves, which refract (or bend) within small droplets of water vapor.
For me, the glory–a circular rainbow–is emblematic of a portal or doorway leading us into the vagaries of possibility, the boundless horizons from which we might view anew our relationships and value systems, foregrounding hope and care.

Materials/dimensions: Ripstop, polyester fabrics, 50" x 80"

Droplets and Interference is on view at Compound Yellow’s studio rooftop.
